Large Cents - Canadian

hr

The large cent series ran from 1858 until 1920. The government originally minted approximately 10,000,000. This was more than Canada could absorb due to the large quantity of individual bank tokens being used.

Because of their smaller size in comparison to the bank tokens, the Bank of Canada had a very difficult time in reducing their inventory of large cents, despite discounting them below their face value.
