Nickels - Canadian

hr

New legislation in 1921 enabled the silver 5c piece to be replaced by a larger coin made of nickel. Like the penny, this coin has seen many minor changes over the years. However, it has also seen several major adaptations, including a"Tombac" (or brass) version during the war years and a chrome plated steel version that replaced the Tombac Victory 5c for the years 1944, and 1945. During the Korean war, 1951 and 1952 Chrome plated steel beaver nickels were made.
